4/26/11 Meeting Video: John Sindelar and Jesse Barnum – Zulu iCal Server and Docubin

Thanks to Andy at fmpug.com for hosting this stream!

This was a great meeting – and at 2 hours and change, packed with stuff. Enjoy.

March Meeting Cancelled; Jesse Barnum and John Sindelar in April

We’re cancelling the March meeting. Technically we already had one anyway.

As compensation, I’m happy to say that in April, we’ll be hosting John Sindelar of SeedCode and Jesse Barnum of 360Works. Save the date: April 26th.

John and Jesse will be mainly talking about Zulu and DocuBin.

Zulu

Zulu is an extension for FileMaker Server that integrates FileMaker, iCal, Google Calendar and mobile devices. The key feature with this is that iCal acts as a FileMaker client. Don’t think sync – think synchronicity. It’s cool. Zulu is a collaborative effort between SeedCode and 360Works, two rock-solid names in the field.

DocuBin

DocuBin is a comprehensive document management tool built on top of 360Works’ SuperContainer plugin. DocuBin is a product of 360Works.

We’ll let you know more as the date approaches and as I know more.

5 Minutes with Philly FileMaker featuring John Sindelar

We’re at the FileMaker Developer Conference 2010 in San Diego, CA getting ready for an excellent week of networking and learning about all of things FileMaker. This afternoon I dusted off the video camera and started lining up a great list of FileMaker experts to spend a few minutes chatting with to see what they have coming up at DevCon and what mind blowing tips and tricks they’re seeing out in the community. I’m kicking off a new batch of 5 Minutes with Philly FileMaker interviews with our good buddy John Sindelar, SeedCode. John is doing his annual Year in Review session Monday morning, which I already know will be a DevCon highlight.

Chad Sager and Colin Keefe are also representing IT Solutions at DevCon. If you’re at the conference, be sure to say hi!

Jason Mundok's DevCon 2009 Recap

I had an exceptionally great time at DevCon this year. Approximately 1,100 FileMaker enthusiasts gathered at the San Francisco Hilton, including Marc Adler and me representing IT Solutions. I stayed busy chatting with some of the top speakers for the new video interview series “Five Minutes with Philly FileMaker” and networking with as many new friends as possible, but I did manage to attend a handful of hand-picked sessions. Here’s a breakdown of what I witnessed!

Five Minutes with Philly FileMaker: Jason Mundok interviews Matt Navarre

Matt Navarre, MSN Media and FileMaker Talk, presented a fantastic session at FileMaker DevCon on optimizing searches and how to add a Google-like search feature to any FileMaker solution. I chatted with Matt on Friday afternoon (8/14) about fmSearchResults, a downloadable solution that you can integrate into your solution to improve searching functionality which is available at www.seedcode.com. We’re excited to start implementing fmSearchResults into our solutions at IT Solutions.
