Reposting this as a reminder:

Greetings FileMaker Enthusiasts,

Our next Philadelphia FileMaker User Group meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday evening, February 24th 2009 at 6:00 PM.

The meeting will be held at the IT Solutions Fort Washington Office:

+  414 Commerce Dr., Suite 150, Fort Washington, PA 19034

Join us for an overview of AppleScript and Automator integration with FileMaker

With FileMaker Pro’s built-in scripting tools, it’s fairly easy to automate time consuming and repetitive tasks within your custom database.  But, what if you want to integrate your database with other applications and processes in Mac OS X?  AppleScript and Automator extend your options greatly.  Join automation columnist and consultant, Ben Waldie, and learn how to take your FileMaker databases to the next level with AppleScript and Automator integration.

More after the jump:

Ben will discuss:

* How external AppleScripts can be written to search FileMaker databases, create new records, get and set field values, and more.

* How AppleScripts can be embedded within FileMaker databases, making it possible for users to access files and folders, email messages, iPhoto images, and more, all from within your own custom databases.

* How Automator, Apple’s latest and greatest automation tool, can integrate FileMaker databases with external applications, with no scripting necessary.

Any FileMaker developer looking to learn more about AppleScript and Automator integration with FileMaker won’t want to miss this presentation.

As always, pizza and soft drinks will be provided.

RAFFLE!

During this meeting, we’ll also be raffling off a copy of the Developer’s Card for FileMaker Pro, generously donated by CardsFm.com.  This is a comprehensive set of reference cards on thick 8 1/2″ x 11″ laminated stock, complete with FM error codes, script steps, keyboard shortcuts, port numbers, script triggers and so on – it’s a great thing to have on your (physical) desktop.  You can see what the cards look like at: http://www.cardsfm.com/.
